About Us
Sharing the soul, passion, and flavors of Jalisco and Michoacán, Mexico—a culture they deeply cherish—has long been a dream of the Oceguera family. In 2017, after 25 years in the food service industry, Saul and his wife Elizabeth turned this dream into reality by opening Pulque Mexican Restaurant in Washington, Missouri. Drawing from a rich collection of family recipes, their goal is to make each dining experience feel like home. Every handcrafted dish and drink is thoughtfully prepared to introduce you to the depth and diversity of Mexican culture. In 2024, they expanded their culinary journey by opening a new location in Wright City, bringing these authentic tastes to a new community.
Why Pulque?
The name "Pulque" is inspired by the legendary Aztec god Quetzalcoatl, who noticed that people did not dance and sing after a long day's work. To lift their spirits, he gifted them pulque—a traditional beverage enjoyed during weddings, fertility rites, agricultural ceremonies, and other significant events across Mesoamerican cultures. At Pulque Mexican Restaurant, we hope our food and drinks will uplift your spirits and turn any day into a celebration.
